For two years I’ve been quietly lucky and proud to be a Staff Writer for @beautynewsnyc_official, marking its 25th anniversary as the world’s very first digital magazine exclusively for beauty, fashion and style. It was my dream in college to live in New York City and work for a women’s fashion magazine while (I thought) getting my little novels rejected left and right.
But God had other plans to get the fiction career started far sooner than I’d dreamed of. It remains a blessing but a lot sidetracked as a result. Then, in 2024, BN NYC Publisher/Editor @bkimtaylor helped me reach back to that girlhood dream in my grown woman 40’s to write beyond my known identity in books, proving “It’s Never Too Late”!
And that just happens to be the title of 1 of 25 books I recommend there for summer reading. I write there about food, art, women-owned brands, film and even perfume. However, books will always be my first love.
Fiction is actually the least of the list but my personal favorite of course, so buy or download one or more of my recs by these amazing new or name novelists and short story writers!
