The December issue of University of Arkansas’s gravel. so sweetly describes this tender portion of my new novel Solemn they publish as “Kalisha Buckhanon says yes to love and life,” in my excerpt entitled “Expecting.”

It is nice of the editors to preview it for all of you to read it and have a sneak peek of what’s to come. In this portion of the work, a young couple cascade from wanton abandon to serious ponderings of their future together in American wartime. Thank you for supporting not only me, but the other writers in this new young journal published by the University of Arkansas’s Creative Writing MFA students. I have great admiration for and fond memories of University of Arkansas as one of my first speaking engagements for my first novel Upstate, as the late great E. Lynn Harris curated a fabulous Black writers series for his African American Studies classes.
Enjoy!
Glad to learn of your work. I will definitely be following.
